CTE Credential Program

The Fresno County Superintendent of Schools is an approved Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC) Program Sponsor for the Designated Subjects (DS) CTE Credential.

The FCSS Designated Subjects Career Technical Education Credential Program is designed for new teachers from industry or experienced credentialed teachers to earn their DS CTE Credential. Unlike single-subject or multiple subject credentials, candidates qualify for their preliminary credential based up their industry work experience in at least one of the 15 industry sectors.  Once the preliminary credential is issued, the candidate must complete required coursework and two years of teaching to clear the credential.

FCSS courses are offered online through a learning platform. The courses include pre-recorded instruction, learning activities, and discussion boards. Thus, allowing candidates the flexibility of completing weekly course work at their own pace. Cohort meetings and support training are scheduled through Zoom. With coursework and support, we believe candidates will gain the knowledge and skills to become effective CTE teachers.

As a reference guide, please use the CTE Credential Handbook for information related to obtaining the DS CTE Credential and the FCSS Teacher Preparation Program.

The Fresno County Superintendent of Schools admits and retains CTE Credential candidates without discriminating on the basis of actual or perceived race, color, national origin, ancestry, religious creed, age, marital status, pregnancy, physical or mental disability, medical condition, veteran status, gender, gender identity, gender expression or sexual orientation, or any other basis protected by federal, state or local law, ordinance or regulation, in its educational program(s) or employment.
